Its the return of the F1 season, and with it, the fashion show season for the capital. I wasnt able to go last year as I was off on a vacation or another. This year Lancel called me up (oh buying a bag years ago from that shop has certainly paid off) to offer me complimentary tickets to their tea and fashion show happening this Saturday in Star Hill (Lancel and Lanvin together, oh joy)
I had actually planned on going to Cherating this weekend with some girlfriends. We booked the hotel and got all excited about going... until we realized today that the weather will be bad this weekend. Darn it!
So, I had given my fashion show tickets to the BFF and I have no beach to go this weekend, what else can I do?
Well, to begin with, tomorrow us girl friends will be sneaking off to go and see the International Shoe Festival to check out Jimmy Choo's enviable collection! at PWTC
Also, there is the Mercedes Benz fashion show tent at Lake Gardens that I am hoping I could fenagle my way into (one of these days I need to get myself a 'media pass' based on this blog to enable me to enter such locations)
Otherwise, or, well at least, deff, I will be checking out this!

3,000-year-old coffin on show
KUALA LUMPUR: A 3,000-year-old coffin and another worth about half-a-million ringgit will be on display at the National Museum.
They are among the 30-odd coffins that are part of an exhibition, themed Traditions and Mysteries.
“The practice and tradition of using coffins for funerals has been there for centuries,” said Department of Museums Malaysia director-general Datuk Ibrahim Ismail at a press conference here yesterday.
“The exhibition shows the universal and special features of coffins which are not widely known,” he said.
The museum has brought together coffins from Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, along with its own collection, for the exhibition that will be on until June 20.
The attractions include a “Niah boat” coffin that dates back to Neolithic times, a gold-plated modern Chinese coffin, a buffalo-shaped coffin from Indonesia and a 100-year-old kerusi mayat (coffin chair) from the Philipines that was used to dry the bodies of respected noblemen until only the bones remained.
Entry is RM2 for adults and free for children during the two-week promotional period starting Thursday.

Week 11: Run baby run
Urgh. As I am writing this, my body is aching from the run that I did two days ago.
The Energizer Night Run is the second night marathon to be held in Malaysia this year. I missed the first one a few months back which was the Putrajaya Night Race. Would have really enjoyed that seeing that you would be running through Putrajaya at night which is a really beautiful sight I guarantee you.
The Energizer Night Run instead was held in Cyberjaya, a few km's off Putrajaya. It was VERY well organized. Probably the most organized run Ive ever been to. You pick up your running vests in KL a few days before (and the running vests were really nice sleeveless Adidas quick dry vests). On the day of the race itself you had three options of getting there. Either by taking the KL Sentral train all the way from KL to Putrajaya then switching to their free feeder bus or by driving to Putrajaya Sentral and taking the free feeder bus or by driving to designated parking spots in Cyberjaya and taking the bus. The bus itself was quite convenient though we waited ~15 min to get it from Sentral.
The route was good. Road all the way (I know, not so good on the knees but ultimately more decent than grass hah!) Some inclice (that nearly killed me) but mostly flat. It was also nice to have people cheer you on especially towards the end of the race where there were drums and gongs and the Shick cheerleaders cheering you on. There was a pretty big concert with Fly FM DJ's and Pop Shuvit doing a show.
Right before the race started you picked up your headlights and as soon as it was over, you pick up your goodie bag with the medal inside. I cannot stress how good it is to have the goodie bag given right at the end of the race because seriously, there has been so many times when goodie bags are given before the race and you go "wtf where the hell am I going to put this"
All in all, I still think they did a very good job, thus I think my RM60 registration fees was well worth it (if not for the vest and headlights alone). One thing that could be improved is to somehow have the run timed. Us 10km sluggish runners didnt have chips for our shoes so we dont really know how long it took us to complete.
As for me, well The Boyfriend ran by my side the whole way (and was also reduced to pushing me towards the very end). My time? 1hr 13 minutes. Decent I guess
Signing up for the next 10km run! The Standard Chartered Marathon, June 27th

The Hot Air Balloon Festival
(I wanted to introduce you to Mr. Slopoke! He will be my travel mascot from now on)
I made it back! My project was completed two weeks earlier than expected so I flew back to KL on Friday morning. I attended an office meeting on Friday afternoon and then dissapeared for a MUCH needed grommage and massage at the incredible Hammam in Bangsar Village 2 (I will take pics and post next time I promise). There's also an INCREDIBLE art exhibition of Ibrahim Hussein on the third floor. Its amazing, I swear. I hope they keep on bringing back art exhibitions like this. His distinct use of lines, just sublime.
(Floating over the buildings)
Anyways, on Saturday I invited my family to go and check out the hot air balloon festival I had mentioned before. Its still on till tomorrow if youre looking for something to do. If youre taking the MEX highway to Putrajaya, I recommend to keep on going straight (dont take the first left into Putrajaya) to avoid the horrible traffic jam of people trying to get in and park. Take the back roads as much as possible and just park at the back where the ministry offices are. You may be cursing because you'll have to walk a little bit more, but trust me, when youre avoiding all the traffic on your way out, you will be thanking me for sure.
The event itself was really great. People enjoyed just watching the balloons. The highlight of the event? THE DARTH VADER BALLOON! amazing! There's also a lot of other events going on around the area in case youre bored with just the balloons. There are some go-karting (done on a triple cycle contraption) and zorbi-ing down the hill! (its where you sit in a giant ball and just roll down the hill)
If youre just checking this post out tonight or tom morning, head on down while you can still catch it! Putrajaya

Yet another hiatus
Apologies, but the nature of my work had sent me down south to Singapore for an intense project. Essentially it means I dont come back for weekends (mostly meant for catching up on sleep/ working) and wont be back in Malaysia probably till end of the month. Which also means I might miss the hot air balloon festival. ARRRGGHHHH. As well as the Energizer night race which I had signed up for.
Life in Singapore somehow constantly entails a few things. Waiting in line, pushing through a crowd and getting seriously car sick every time I get into a cab.
Hopefully will be back soon!
